Mentoring sessions at the CEA annual meetings have been well received over the years. Mentoring has been found to help women in the economics profession and in particular, the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP) mentoring program, CeMENT, significantly increased publications rates and successful grant applications (Blau et. al, 2010).
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CWEC/CFÉC will be hosting a virtual mentoring event in lieu of the annual mentoring breakfast at the CEA meeting. The virtual mentoring event will bring together senior female economists, junior economists, and students to discuss topics such as publishing, teaching, grant writing, networking, job searching, career paths, and the tenure process.
The CWEC mentoring event will be held on June 3, 2021 from 10:30am to 12:00 noon (Pacific Time) or 1:30pm to 3:00pm (Eastern Time). If you are interested in participating in this event, please register here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/cweccfec-virtual-mentoring-tickets-131429787031
