The CEA has committed to take a facilitating and, where appropriate, leading role in pursuit of the goal of making the economics profession truly inclusive. That means making sure that the practice of economics in Canada feels relevant to people from all groups in society and that people from groups that have faced discrimination, in particular, feel that it is a respectful, relevant, and welcoming profession.  

This year we will hold the first CEA Embrace Day to act upon many recommendations that emerged from last year’s Diversity Summit. This day will be devoted to mentoring, networking activities, and a skill development workshop, in addition to providing an opportunity to discuss EDI related topics with one another and with our newly formed Best Practices working group (see the Canadian Economics Diversity Committee page).   

Attendees are invited to attend the Embrace Lecture delivered by Randall Akee  (sponsored by the The Bank of Canada), the Fireside chat with Evelyn Forget, mentoring for graduate students, and/or participate in the discussions related to surveys and data collection that will be led by the co-chairs of the data working group, Nick Dadson (Analysis Group) and Sermin Gungor (Bank of Canada). Graduate student posters will also be viewable during the cocktail event at the end of the day (sponsored by the Analysis Group) and should provide all with an initial glimpse of the talent that will be available next year.  We you will be able to join us in Winnipeg!

Journée de l’inclusion ACÉ : Séances spéciales et ateliers

Vous pouvez consulter l’information sur le 57e Congrès annuel de l’Association canadienne d’économique ici. 

L’ACE s’est engagée à jouer un rôle de facilitateur et, le cas échéant, de leader dans la poursuite de l’objectif visant à rendre la profession d’économiste véritablement inclusive. Il faut donc s’assurer que la pratique de l’économique au Canada est pertinente pour tout le monde, mais surtout pour les membres de groupes victimes de discrimination, afin qu’ils perçoivent la profession comme étant respectueuse, pertinente et accueillante. 

Cette année, nous organiserons la première Journée de l'inclusion ACÉ  pour donner suite aux nombreuses recommandations issues du Sommet sur la diversité de l'année dernière. Cette journée sera axée sur le mentorat, les activités de réseautage et un atelier de développement des compétences, en plus de fournir l'occasion de discuter de sujets liés à l'EDI entre les participants et avec notre nouveau comité des meilleures pratiques.
