Membership Information

Membership and subscription can be carried out through the CEA online membership management system here. All CEA members have received an e-mail notice providing them with a username and password to access the web site.

Membership Period

The CEA membership period is the calendar year. Memberships for 2024 are sold from October 1, 2023 until September 30, 2024. If you purchase a membership between October and December, you will also be granted a complimentary membership and online-only subscription to the Canadian Journal of Economics for the remainder of the current year. Membership also includes complimentary content access and submission privileges to CPP/Adp.

Student Memberships

Student memberships are available to undergraduate and graduate students at degree-granting universities. Proof of eligibility (e.g., copy of your student card, letter from PhD supervisor) must be sent to the CEA Office, Attn: Paula Emery, preferably by email at: cea.execdir@gmail.com. Student memberships are limited to a maximum of five years.

Retiree Memberships

Retiree memberships are available to all who are 65 years or older (even if you are not retired), as well as all emeritus professors. To qualify, please send an e-mail request to the CEA/CJE Office, Attn: Paula Emery, at cea.execdir@gmail.com, and tell us your birth year for our records.

Online-Only Renewal

By resolution of its Executive Council, the CEA has moved to an online management and renewal system for memberships and subscriptions. This move is intended to expedite the signing-up and renewal process and make it as convenient as possible. Members will be able to update their information and check the status of their memberships at their own convenience. By reducing the administrative overhead, the new online system will also help the CEA keep membership and subscription rates low. Membership renewal notices are sent out by electronic mail with an embedded web link. Clicking on this link will display the relevant renewal information for each recipient, proceeding directly to the credit card payment. Receipts, suitable for reimbursement purposes where applicable, are available as PDF files immediately after receiving payment. All credit card transactions are conducted through our secure web interface which encrypts all communications between web browser and server. Please refer also to our Privacy Policy for more information.

Refund Policy

Membership dues are not refundable. However, if a membership is purchased in error, it may be canceled for a full refund if the CEA Office is notified within one week of making the original payment.
