The 59th Annual Meetings of the Canadian Economics Association will be hosted by the Department of Economics at the Université du Québec à Montréal from May 29th to May 31st, 2025. A day of online sessions will take place on Friday, May 23rd, 2025.

Programme chair is Professor Huw Lloyd-Ellis (Queen's University) and the local organizers are Professor Marie Connolly (Université du Québec à Montréal) and Professor Charles Séguin (Université du Québec à Montréal).

Replication Games: The Institute for Replication, in cooperation with the Research Group on Human Capital at ESG UQAM, invites you to participate in the Replication Games on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at UQAM. The Replication Games is a one-day event that brings researchers together to collaborate on reproducing papers published in high-ranking journals. Faculty and graduate students would be welcome to attend and all participants get co-authorship to a meta paper combining all reproductions/replications.

Student Travel Grants

Applications for Student Travel Grants will be available at the link below. Please read the criteria carefully before applying.

Travel Grant criteria: 

  • Travel grants are only available to qualifying graduate students and doctoral candidates who are paid-up members of the Canadian Economics Association. 
  • You must be a student at a Canadian university, or a Canadian citizen studying at a foreign university.
  • You must have submitted a paper to the conference or are presenting in a special session to apply for a travel grant. 
  • Please submit your travel grant application before the deadline of March 15th, 2025

Important Dates and Deadlines

December 2024 The programme chair starts accepting submissions of papers for presentation at the conference through the web interface.
January 31, 2025 Last day for prospective special session organizers to contact the program office for booking blocks of sessions.
February 1, 2025 Advance registration for the conference commences.
February 14, 2025 Deadline to submit your paper or abstract.
March 14, 2025 Last day for travel grant applications to be submitted to the CEA.
March 24, 2025 Last day for notifying paper submitter on the acceptance or rejection of their paper for presentation.
April 4, 2025 Last day for presenters to register. Presenters must register by this date or lose their conference program slot.
Mid-April The preliminary program is expected to become available.
May 3, 2025 Last day to withdraw and receive a refund (full refund minus a $75 administration fee). After this date, the registration fee is non-refundable. (*If the conference format is changed after this date due to a public health recommendation, the option to withdraw without penalty will be considered and conference fees may be reduced. All delegates will be informed.)
May 13, 2025 Early registration ends and late registration fees apply thereafter.
May 23, 2025 Online session day.
May 29, 2025 Embrace Day sessions.
May 30-31, 2025 The in-person sessions for paper presentations.
