Student Travel Grants

IMPORTANT: for the CEA Student Travel Grant, an applicant cannot combine travel assistance for other sources. If you receive travel assistant from another source/grant you must disclose this to the CEA office in the case that you are awarded a CEA grant. 

CEA Student Travel Grants

Please submit your registration form and travel grant application before the deadline of March 15th, 2025.

Applications for Student Travel Grants will be available starting February 1st. In addition to registering, an Application Form must be filled out and sent to office@economics.ca or cea.execdir@gmail.com. Application does not guarantee funds. 12 applications will be accepted. There is a maximum available per student of 1250.00 CDN. Receipts for reasonable accommodation, travel and food will be covered. e.g. first class tickets, premium accommodations, alcohol and expensive meals will not be considered as reasonable expenses. Note there are codes for travel discounts on the Local Information page.

  • Travel grants are only available to qualifying graduate students and doctoral candidates who are paid-up members of the Canadian Economics Association. 

  • You must be a student at a Canadian university, or a Canadian citizen studying at a foreign university.

  • You must have submitted a paper to the conference or are presenting in a special session to apply for a travel grant

Productivity Partnership will again this year offer financial assistance for travel expenses for students. Funds are up to 1000.00 CDN per student. Apply at the link or QR code below.

    Important Dates and Deadlines

    December 2024 The programme chair starts accepting submissions of papers for presentation at the conference through the web interface.
    January 31, 2025 Last day for prospective special session organizers to contact the program office for booking blocks of sessions.
    February 1, 2025 Advance registration for the conference commences.
    February 14, 2025 Deadline to submit your paper or abstract.
    March 14, 2025 Last day for travel grant applications to be submitted to the CEA.
    March 24, 2025 Last day for notifying paper submitter on the acceptance or rejection of their paper for presentation.
    April 4, 2025 Last day for presenters to register. Presenters must register by this date or lose their conference program slot.
    Mid-April The preliminary program is expected to become available.
    May 3, 2025 Last day to withdraw and receive a refund (full refund minus a $75 administration fee). After this date, the registration fee is non-refundable. (*If the conference format is changed after this date due to a public health recommendation, the option to withdraw without penalty will be considered and conference fees may be reduced. All delegates will be informed.)
    May 13, 2025 Early registration ends and late registration fees apply thereafter.
    May 23, 2025 Online session day.
    May 29, 2025 Embrace Day sessions.
    May 30-31, 2025 The in-person sessions for paper presentations.
