TIPS & Q&A SESSIONS – OPEN TO ALL
This year the Canadian Women Economics Committee (CWEC) and Canadian Diversity in Economics Committee (CDEC) will be hosting two virtual presentations and Q&A aimed at Economics PhD students in Canada who are on the market this year. PhD students looking ahead to the market in future years are also welcome to join us.
October 30: Job Application Tips (covering key requirements for both academic and non-academic applications) followed by a Q&A.
December 13: Presentation Tips (covering the do's and don'ts of an effective presentation) followed by a Q&A. This session will be aimed at topics surrounding in-person interviews.
During each presentation, there will be break-out networking rooms with members of CWEC and the CDEC affinity groups. All sessions will be held on zoom at 8PM Eastern. Registrants will be sent the zoom link prior to the events.
ELEVATOR PITCH WORKSHOPS – AIMED AT PhD STUDENTS ON THE ECONOMICS JOB MARKET
The Canadian Women Economics Committee (CWEC) and Canadian Diversity in Economics Committee (CDEC) are hosting two sessions for current job market candidates to practice—and get feedback on—their three to five-minute "pitch". If you are a PhD student at a Canadian institution and/or a member of the Canadian Economics Association, and are on the job market this year, we invite you to join us.
These pitches are often an important part of your first-round interview. We will set you up into groups with other job market candidates and volunteers who have experience in the job market process.
The sessions will be on Thursday November 16 and Wednesday November 29. They begin at 8PM Eastern and will require approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of your time. Spaces are limited and you will be assigned to only one of the dates.
