The CWEC/CFÉC Virtual Mentoring Event 2021 Mentoring sessions at the CEA annual meetings have been very well received over the years. Mentoring has been found to help women in the economics profession and in particular, the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP) mentoring program, CeMENT, significantly increased publications rates and successful grant applications (Blau et. al, 2010).
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CWEC/CFÉC will be hosting a virtual mentoring event in lieu of the annual mentoring breakfast at the CEA meeting. The virtual mentoring event will bring together senior female economists, junior economists, and students to discuss topics such as publishing, teaching, grant writing, networking, job searching, career paths, and the tenure process.
