CEA 2019: Award Winners

CEA June 2019 Banff Conference Prize Winners: The Canadian Economics Association congratulates the following Prize winners who had awards conferred during the CEA Annual Meetings in Banff, Alberta, June 2019.

The winner of the Doug Purvis Memorial Prize is Lars Osberg for his work “The Age of Increasing Inequality: The Astonishing Rise of Canada's 1%”


The Mike McCracken Award for Economic Statistics was awarded to three recipients: Jane Badets of Statistics Canada, Ted McDonald of the University of New Brunswick, and Sylvie Michaud of Statistics Canada

 

The Harry Johnson Prize for the best article published in the Canadian Journal of Economics in 2018 was awarded to Joel Rodrigue of Vanderbilt University and Kunio Tsuyuhara of the University of Calgary for their article: “On-the-Job-Search, Wage Dispersion and Trade Liberalization” published in May 2018 (Volume 51, Issue 2). 

 

The Robert Mundell Prize for the best article published in the Canadian Journal of Economics in 2018 by an early-career economist was awarded to Walter Steingress of the Bank of Canada for his paper, “The causal impact of migration on U.S. trade: Evidence from political refugees” published in November 2018 (Volume 51, Number 4).

 

The Vanderkamp Prize for the best article in 2018 in Canadian Public Policy/Analyse de politique was awarded to : Vincent Chandler (Université du Québec en Outaouais) for his work "Do Evaluators Prefer Candidates of Their Own Gender?"

 

The CWEC Inaugural Service Award was presented to Roberta Robb (Brock University)

 

The CWEC Young Researcher Award was presented to Lucija Muehlenbachs ( University of Calgary)

 

The Bank of Canada Undergraduate Poster Session winners are, Best Research Paper: Ian Sapollnik (The University of British Columbia), "The Minimum Wage, Earned Income Tax Credit, and the Market for Alternative Credit" and, Best Poster Presentation: Rida Aamer (University of Toronto), "The Economist: Underrepresentation of Women in the Profession"
